Curley

The Vet kept saying "put him down," but Erica kept saying, "You don't understand. I know someone who can make him better!" That "someone" she was referring to was me. Thanking the vet for her time, Erica called me to come get this horse, that according to her vet was all but dead. He was very thin, had lots of thick hair, and it was already May. So I kept him, fed him, wormed him, and loved him, and lo and behold this horse that the vet said was all but dead was reborn again.

A year later, I had a friend come to the ranch, and while she had several to choose from to ride that day, she chose to ride Curley and it was love at first sight. She bought Curley, and even though he was old, she was willing to love him for however long he had. We spent one complete afternoon giving him a body clip. What a job! And what a difference! He was getting to scratch places he couldn't before! We think he was a barrel horse, as he had some energy and quick moves. Carole was having a blast on her first horse! But sadly, his rebirth started a downhill path we were helpless to stop.

After almost a week of not eating, his body gave out and Carol was forced to make the dreaded decision to put him down.
